Occupational Health

Occupational Health is a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation service aimed at developing, recovering, compensating, adapting or maintaining the skills of individuals in order to fully participate in the performance of activities of daily living (ADL), work and leisure. The goals of Occupational Therapy are functional, client-centered and should be meaningful to the patient.

The Occupational Therapy unit of Mediclinic Al Ain Hospital caters to both pediatric and adult population whose functions have been limited by a physical injury or a neurological condition. 

Pediatric Occupational Therapy focuses on habilitation or equipping a child with skills and techniques necessary to take part in activities in self-care, school and social circles.

Some of the Pediatric cases that OT works with:

  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Brain Trauma.
  • Spina Bifida
  • Brachial Plexus Injuries.
  • Psychomotor Development Delay or Global Developmental Delay.
  • Dyspraxia or Developmental Coordination Disorder
  • Learning Disability (Slow Learners).
  • Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) or Sensory Integration Dysfunction
  • Fine Motor Skills problem.

Adult Occupational Therapy focuses on regaining lost function due to injury in order to be able to return to work and re-assume the various responsibilities they may have as an individual.

Some of the Adult cases that OT works with:

  • Cerebrovascular Accident (Stroke).
  • Spinal Cord Injury.
  • Multiple Sclerosis.
