Ophthalmology Services at Mediclinic City Hospital

Mediclinic City Hospital is dedicated to total eye care - from cataract and glaucoma surgery to diabetic retinopathy and refractive surgery. Our three specialist ophthalmologists are UK-certified ophthalmic surgeons with advanced fellowship training in both anterior and posterior segments of the eye. They are supported by a team of qualified optometrists and nurses.

Cataract and anterior segment

The cataract and anterior segment department is capable of providing comprehensive eye care services covering a wide range of eye disorders like cataract, eye infections and inflammations, allergies and dry eye, computer vision syndrome, tear duct disorders and other anterior segment disorders.

Meet the team:

Dr. Anupama Rao, DNB, FICO, FRCS (Glasgow)

Dr. Rao specialises in the diagnosis, treatment and surgery of anterior segment diseases of the eye including cataract and refractive surgery (LASIK). She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, UK, has completed her training in phacoemulsification (sutureless cataract surgery) from the well-known Bombay City Eye Institute and has also done an observership in glaucoma at Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, one of the leading ophthalmic institutes in India. Dr. Rao trained in lasik surgery at New Vision Laser Centre, India. Dr. Rao has worked at various hospitals and institutions in Mumbai, India, as a Consultant Ophthalmologist and has been practicing in Dubai for the last 4 years.

Dr. Pramod Warhekar - MBBS, MS (Ophthalmology), FRCS (Glasgow)

Dr. Pramod’s expertise includes cataract phaco-emulsification with foldable/ injectable implants; refractive surgery such as intraLASIK, PRK, epi-lasik, lasik, phakic IOL; treatment of keratoconus with corneal collagen cross-linking, intacs; glaucoma evaluation and medical and surgical treatment, which includes trabeculectmy with and without mitomycin; and conventional and laser dacryo-cysto-rhinostomy to treat watery eyes. He was trained in phacoemulsification, glaucoma and laser surgeries in various hospitals in UK, India and Canada and has recently worked as a consultant in Riyadh Care Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Dr. Pramod is a Member of American Academy of Ophthalmology and European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.
