Paediatrics and Neonatology

The Department of Pediatrics and Neonatology at Mediclinic Welcare Hospital provides comprehensive quality care for your child starting from birth right through to adolescence.

The Paediatric Clinic

The outpatient clinic runs six days a week. To save time it is advisable to make a prior appointment to see a paediatrician in the clinic. Even if you come without an appointment you will be seen by the paediatrician, but you may have to wait.

Accident & Emergency

Our A&E department works round the clock and a qualified paediatrician is available at any time of the day. This service is meant to deal with emergency problems like injuries, breathing difficulty, seizures, high fever, nose bleeds etc.

In-Patient Services

Those children who are sick and require regular monitoring and care by the medical staff are admitted to the dedicated paediatric in-patient area which includes both twin sharing rooms and single rooms. Very sick children who require close monitoring are managed in the dedicated neonatal and paediatric intensive care unit.

The paediatric department provides specialised care in the following areas :

Childbirth and newborns
All deliveries and children born at Mediclinic Welcare Hospital are attended by a paediatricianin the well-equipped delivery rooms and nursery. Our specially trained neonatal nurses provide full support to mothers in all aspects of taking care of a newborn baby including helping in breastfeeding, bathing and cleaning and other day-to-day care.

Before discharge from the hospital, the baby receives any necessary vaccinations.

After discharge from the hospital the paediatrician follows the child regularly in the outpatient clinic, to provide regular vaccinations and to follow the child's growth and development.

Sick Babies
For sick neonates we have a well-equipped Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with specialised staff. Among other conditions, we manage:

  • Neonatal jaundice
  • Neonatal infections
  • Respiratory distress
  • Premature babies
  • Infants of diabetic mothers
  • Anaemia
