Neuroradiology

Intervention and Imaging

The discipline of neuroradiology covers the diagnosis and therapy of ailments and changes in the central nervous system (CNS), meaning the brain and spinal cord together with their envelope and peripheral structures.

Invasive radiology is a specialty in radiology (radio diagnostics) and part of the specialised field of diagnostic neuroradiology. Specialists perform invasive imaging tests and interventions on the central nervous system (brain, cranial nerves and spinal canal). These include angiography (examination of the blood vessels) and myelography (examination of the spinal cord).

Neuroradiology supplements the neighboring disciplines of neurosurgery, neurology, psychiatry, orthopaedics and internal medicine with radiological examination techniques, thus providing assistance and alternatives for them in terms of both diagnostics and therapies.
