Benefits of Da Vinci Robotic System

Minimally invasive or laparoscopic surgery is very common but has limitations of range of movements, limited accessibility due to rigid instruments and standard video, which is why this technique is recommended in routine procedures only. However, unlike the traditional laparoscopic surgery, the da Vinci robotic system allows surgeons, using 3D magnifying vision and 3D rotation, to maneuver into confined spaces with great precision. All this is performed through smaller incisions than the incisions made in open surgery.  Da Vinci is a globally accepted robotic system and years of data collection and studies have shown the following benefits to patients in comparison to open surgery:

  • Reduced pain and trauma to patient
  • Less blood loss
  • Less risk of complications
  • Shorter hospital stay
  • Lower risk of infection
  • Faster recovery and less postoperative pain and discomfort
  • Smaller incision leading to minimal scarring

Note: None of these benefits can be guaranteed, as surgery is necessarily both patient- and procedure-specific.
