Dr Chaudhri studied Medicine at the University of Cambridge and has been in clinical practice since 1992. He subsequently underwent extensive training in cardiac and thoracic surgery at the Royal Brompton Hospital, London and in Scotland. He then super specialised in aortic, mitral and minimally invasive cardiac surgery and heart as well as lung transplantation during fellowships in Harefield and Freeman Hospitals in the UK and in MHH, Hannover, Germany. He has performed in excess of 4000 adult cardiac surgical operations, 800 major thoracic operations and an additional 2500 surgical staging, mediastinal and pleural operative procedures. He is an expert in off pump/ beating heart coronary surgery, aortic root/arch surgery and mitral valve repair and complex valvular and redo cardiac surgery. He is comprehensively trained in thoracic surgical oncology, including surgical staging and resections. He has specialist skills in heart and lung transplantation (50 heart, 48 lung implants) mechanical circulatory assist devices and surgery for heart failure. He has special interests in minimally invasive and complex cardiac surgery, especially re-operative valvular surgery, and surgery for atrial fibrillation. His career goal is to provide the highest quality of cardiovascular and thoracic surgical care at its leading edge. He has a particular interest in the surgical treatment of patients with aortic valve and root disease as well as pathology of the ascending aorta and arch, and heart as well as lung failure.
