Dr. Cecilia Borges graduated with a Masters' degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology at Nova University of Lisbon, in Portugal. She has vast experience in the healthcare sector, working in hospitals and clinics as a medical physicist in the fields of radiation therapy, nuclear medicine and radiology.
Prior to Joining Mediclinic, she worked for more than seven years as a consultant medical physicist for Mercurius Health in Portugal and was also resident staff at Centro Oncologico Natalia Chaves, the pioneer of IMRT and Radiosurgery in Portugal. She was also responsible for commissioning new machines and systems, teaching students and supporting medical staff in Portugal, as well as Romania and Angola.
With an interest in research, Dr. Cecilia completed a PhD programme in 2014 to investigate different breast irradiation techniques using Monte Carlo simulations, which was approved with the highest qualification at Nova University of Lisbon.
