Dr Shamsheer is a gastroenterologist with board certification from the British Society of Gastroenterology in the UK. He is the Head of the department of Gastroenterology.

He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor at MBRU, College of Medicine.
His specialist training in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine was on the prestigious South West London rotation, including St. George' s Hospital, Kingston and Brighton General Hospital.

Prior to joining Mediclinic Middle East, he worked in the UK's NHS system for 16 years, six years of which was as Consultant Gastroenterologist and Physician in the large 800-bed, Queen Elizabeth 2 and Lister Hospitals

He has extensive experience in general Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He believes in delivering individualised care to his patients, placing them at the centre of the decision making process, with the freedom to express their opinions. He is an active proponent of patient education and patient self-management strategies, with limited usage of medications.

He undertakes extensive training and continuous professional development to stay at the forefront of knowledge in his field.

Dr. Shamsheer is very experienced with endoscopic diagnostics and therapeutic techniques and is especially accomplished in carrying out endoscopic treatments which minimise the need for surgery, in some cases. He is also particularly experienced in carrying out procedures relating to the stomach, colon and small intestine. His main clinical interests include minimally-invasive procedures, bowel disease, colon cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and other gastrointestinal conditions.

Dr. Shamsheer is a member of the British society of Gastroenterology, the Royal College of Physicians, the Royal Society of Medicine London and is a medical advisor to the National Association of Crohn' s and Colitis, UK.
