Dr. Abdelmagid Eltayeb graduated from Cairo University with honours in 1988. He has been practising orthopaedic surgery in the UK since 1995 and undertook his higher surgical orthopaedics training in Yorkshire Deanery, UK. He is a fellow and medal holder of the Royal College of Surgeons.
In 2003, He completed his higher training and obtained the certificate of completion of specialist training (CCST) in Orthopaedics & Trauma. In the same year he was appointed in a substantive post as an Upper Limb Surgeon at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital. He developed and led the Upper Limb unit until 2016, when he moved to SKMC, Abu Dhabi as a senior consultant shoulder and upper limb orthopaedicssurgeon, developing and leading the upper limb service.
Dr Eltayeb has extensive experience in upper limb joints replacement (primary and revision). He routinely performs resurfacing, hemi, total anatomical and reverse polarity arthroplasty, and he successfully performed the first total elbow replacement in UAE. Also while working at SKMC he introduced the computer assisted shoulder arthroplasty. In addition, he is an experienced arthroscopic surgeon, he performs almost all the described shoulder and elbow arthroscopic procedures, and is capable of treating all upper limb trauma cases with the most up to date techniques with excellent outcome and high degree of patient satisfaction. As an upper limb surgeon he has also been treating other elbow, wrist and hand pathologies including peripheral nerve injuries.
He enjoys teaching and has been participating as a faculty member in many international meetings and conferences. Moreover he has been organising and running annual instructional shoulder arthroscopic course for the last 10 years.
