World stroke day
26 Oct 2017

Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability, accounting for one in 10 deaths and a total of 44 million years of healthy life lost each year (worldstrokecampaign.org). Stroke can happen to anyone at any time and affects everyone: survivors, family, friends, workplaces and communities. Each year, approximately 8,000 to 10,000 people in the UAE suffer a stroke (Dr. Suhail Al Rukn, Stroke and Neurology Consultant at Mediclinic City Hospital and Head of the stroke unit at Rashid Hospital).

Over 90% of strokes are linked to 10 key risk factors. On 29 October 2017, on the occasion of World Stroke Day, learn about the risk factors related to stroke onset as Mediclinic City Hospital takes the initiative to increase awareness.
