Dr Leanne Bricker undertook undergraduate training in South Africa and moved to the UK for postgraduate training - specialised in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and then subspecialised in Fetal and Maternal Medicine. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, UK. For 10 years she was Co-Director of the Fetal Medicine Unit of Liverpool Women’s Hospital, UK. She served on the executive committee of the British Maternal and Fetal Medicine Society from 2009-2014. From 2014 she was Chair of Fetal Medicine at Corniche Hospital. She has published over 85 papers, abstracts and book chapters. She is an expert in the management of multiple pregnancy having led the tertiary level multidisciplinary multiple pregnancy service in Liverpool, been involved in the development of the UK NICE (National Institute of Clinical Excellence) first guidelines for the management of multiple pregnancy, is coauthor of the RCOG green top guidelines for the management of monochorionic twin pregnancy and is editor of a Cambridge University Press textbook entitled Management of Multiple Pregnancies: A Practical Guide (published 2023). Dr Bricker developed and led the tertiary fetal medicine service providing a wide range of fetal diagnostics and therapy in the UAE for more than 10 years, and from 2014 introduced advanced fetal therapeutic techniques at Corniche Hospital, Abu Dhabi, including fetal blood transfusions, fetoscopic laser treatment for the rare complication twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome and fetal shunts. She performed the first every fetoscopic laser for twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome in the UAE. Dr Bricker was Chair of the OBGYN Service Line and Network at Abu Dhabi Health Services Company. As a member of the Abu Dhabi DOH maternity advisory group Dr Bricker has co-authored several DOH evidence-based guidelines relating to the care of pregnant mothers and their babies.
