  • Helping patients to learn basic information about diabetes and its management
  • Education of patients about use of diabetes devices such as blood glucose meter, insulin pens, insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors
  • Introduction and adaptation of healthy eating habits through nutrition education, meal planning, weight loss strategies and other disease-specific nutrition counselling
  • Developing problem solving strategies and skills to self-manage diabetes
  • Monitoring of blood glucose and teaching patients how to interpret and appropriately respond to results
  • Education of patients about how medications work, action, side effects, efficacy, toxicity, prescribed dosage
  • Assist patients in developing skills for handling stressful situations


Ms Rana joined Al Noor hospital in 2007, where she was appointed as patient and Family Health Educator. After 7 years in Al Ain, Rana moved to a private hospital as a Diabetic Educator, where she spent next 7 years. In February 2021, Ms Rana joined Mediclinic Al Jowhara hospital as a Diabetic Educator.
