- Dr. Alessandro Terruzzi completed his medical degree (2002) and specialist training in Neurology (2008) at the University of Medicine and Surgery of Milano-Bicocca, Italy, where he also obtained a Second-Level Master’s Degree in Cerebrovascular Diseases, reflecting advanced subspecialty training in vascular neurology and stroke care. He is a highly trained neurosonologist, with extensive expertise in extra- and intracranial Doppler ultrasound, including carotid and vertebral artery assessment and transcranial colour-coded Doppler for non-invasive evaluation of intracranial arterial circulation and cerebral haemodynamics. Dr. Terruzzi has broad clinical experience in the management of adult neurological disorders, including acute and chronic cerebrovascular disease, migraine and headache disorders including Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension and intractable tinnitus, multiple sclerosis, central nervous system infections, dementia and neurodegenerative disorders, and epilepsy. His primary clinical and academic interests focus on comprehensive stroke management—spanning hyperacute care, advanced diagnostic assessment, secondary prevention, and systems of care development—as well as on the diagnosis and treatment of headache disorders, with particular expertise in migraine and complex primary and secondary headache syndromes. Since 2020, Dr. Terruzzi has served as Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor at Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences / Dubai Health, contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and clinical training. He is currently Head of the Neurology Department at Mediclinic City Hospital, and Director of the AHA-certified (American heart Association) Mediclinic Comprehensive Stroke Centre, where he leads the development of advanced stroke pathways, multidisciplinary care models, and quality-driven clinical governance. Dr. Terruzzi is an active member of several national and international scientific societies, including the European Stroke Organisation (ESO), World Organization of Neurosonology (WON), Italian Society of Neurology (SIN), Italian Society of Neurosonology and Cerebral Hemodynamics (SINSEC), European Headache Federation (EHF), and the World Stroke Organization (WSO).
