Dr. Carmelo performs head and neck surgery with a focus on cancer, thyroid, and parathyroid disease. Volume matters in this surgery, and he has performed more than 1,000 head and neck cancer, thyroid, and parathyroid procedures over his career. He trained in otolaryngology at the University of Palermo, spent nearly a decade in the head and neck department of the National Institute of Cancer in Milan, and served as a head and neck consultant at Medway Maritime and Queen Victoria hospitals in the UK.
