Dr. Hasanain manages the medical conditions that need hospital or day-case care - infections, pneumonia, asthma, diabetes, anaemia, and symptoms of unclear cause among them - with a special interest in venous thromboembolism, blood clots in the veins and lungs. As clinical lead for acute medicine in York, he set up an ambulatory care service and a thromboembolism clinic and received York Hospital's Clinical Excellence Award. He taught at Hull York Medical School and served on the internal medicine residency faculty at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, Abu Dhabi.
