Dr. Madhavan works at the therapeutic end of endoscopy: clearing bile duct stones by ERCP, stopping ulcer and variceal bleeding, removing polyps and swallowed foreign bodies, placing oesophageal stents, and dilating strictures - all sparing patients open surgery. He also manages reflux, inflammatory bowel disease, and liver and biliary disease, runs colonoscopy screening, and keeps his practice current with the latest advances in the field. He taught gastroenterology as an assistant professor at medical colleges in Kerala, India.
