Dr. Walid performs open-heart surgery, including high-risk coronary bypass, valve repair and replacement, and surgery of the thoracic aorta, along with ablation for irregular heart rhythms and surgery for heart and chest tumours. Much of his work is minimally invasive keyhole surgery, which spares patients a large incision and supports a gentler, quicker recovery. He trained in cardiac surgery in Paris and Lyon, including fellowship training, and has worked at Ain Shams University Hospitals in Cairo, a leading cardiac centre. He has published widely in international journals.
