Find out what participation can involve, what you should know before deciding, and how your information and rights are protected.

At Mediclinic Middle East, research is part of how we keep learning, questioning, and improving care. Across our network, patients may have opportunities to take part in studies exploring new treatments, different approaches to care, and important questions that could change what we know about health and treatment.
People take part in research for different reasons. Some hope it may open up new possibilities for their own care, while others are motivated by the chance to contribute to something bigger than themselves. Even when a study doesn't offer a direct personal advantage, taking part can still help build the knowledge that may improve care for future patients.
What taking part looks like will depend on the study. Some research asks you to be actively involved, while other studies may only use information collected as part of your care. Before you decide, the research team will explain exactly what would be asked of you.
Joining a study is always your decision. You will receive information about the study before deciding and will be asked to give informed consent. It is okay to say no, and doing so will not affect your care or treatment. If you do take part, you can withdraw at any time, for any reason.
Your data is handled securely and confidentially. In many studies, personal details are removed or anonymised. You will be told how your information will be used and stored, in line with UAE law and ethical standards.
Before you make a decision, you should have a clear picture of what the study involves and what it could mean for you. The research team should talk you through the important details, give you time to ask questions, and make sure you know what to expect. For every study, you will be told:

Before a study can begin at Mediclinic Middle East, it's reviewed by clinical and ethics experts and must also meet the requirements of the relevant health authorities. These checks help make sure the study is appropriate, the risks have been carefully considered, and participants are properly protected.
Whether you have questions about taking part in a study, want to understand more about research at Mediclinic Middle East, or are interested in supporting our research programmes, our team is here to help.
