Weight management programme
Medical, lifestyle, and surgical weight-management pathways tailored to different needs, with distinct programmes available across Mediclinic Middle East.

Different pathways for different needs
Weight management can involve nutrition and lifestyle support, medical treatment, monitoring of weight-related health conditions, medication where clinically indicated, or bariatric procedures for some patients.
Mediclinic Middle East offers several structured weight-management pathways. Eligibility, participating facilities, clinical teams, and treatment options differ, so each programme is described separately below.
Thiqa personalised Weight management programme
The Department of Health - Abu Dhabi and Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre launched the personalised Weight management programme as a first-of-its-kind programme in the region for eligible Thiqa members aged 18 and above who are clinically identified as overweight or obese.
Available at Mediclinic Airport Road Hospital, Mediclinic Al Ain Hospital, and Mediclinic Al Jowhara Hospital, it combines multidisciplinary clinical care, digital monitoring, tailored support, and a reimbursement model designed to encourage sustained engagement, accountability, and active participation. The programme aims to support sustainable weight management and active living while reducing risks associated with excess weight, including type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and certain cancers, and supporting longer-term health and quality of life.

Weight Management Centre at Mediclinic Airport Road Hospital
Obesity is a disease that can affect health, independence, and everyday life, and is associated with conditions including diabetes, high cholesterol, and cardiovascular disease.
The Weight Management Centre provides nutritional, metabolic, medical, and surgical care for weight management and obesity-related conditions. It is structured around international best-practice guidance and offers both surgical and non-surgical care, including pharmacotherapy where appropriate, supported by a broad multidisciplinary team and dedicated clinical technology.
All listed surgical procedures are performed using a laparoscopic, or keyhole, approach. This is intended to reduce pain, support earlier discharge, and help patients return to work and normal activities sooner.
