- Dr. Mousa was born in Syria and earned his MD from Aleppo University in 1993. He then moved to the UK to pursue residency training, where he completed basic surgical training in Sheffield and higher surgical training in general surgery in Manchester. Dr. Mousa's training in the UK culminated in Fellowships from the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Before joining MBRU as an Associate Professor of Surgery, Dr. Hussam held the same rank in the Department of Surgery at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, United Arab Emirates University.
Since 2011, he has been practicing as a Consultant Surgeon at Al Ain and Tawam Hospitals, respectively. He has specialized expertise in thyroid cancer surgery, including advanced lateral neck dissection for metastatic thyroid cancer. His laparoscopic surgery experience includes Nissen fundoplication, cholecystectomy, bile duct exploration, abdominal wall hernias, and trauma surgery.
Dr Hussam is a dedicated surgeon with more than 14 years of experience in teaching and mentoring residents and junior doctors. He is passionate about education and takes great pride in supporting the next generation of surgeons by sharing my knowledge, clinical experience, and practical skills. At the same time, his greatest commitment remains patients. He is deeply passionate about providing compassionate, evidence-based care, with a particular interest in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with thyroid diseases. He strives to combine clinical excellence, surgical expertise, and effective teaching to provide the best possible outcomes for both my patients and the doctors he mentors.
