Dr Amer Elbaba is a British consultant gynaecological surgeon with 16 years of experience working in several public and private hospitals across the UK.

Dr Amer is considered a leading expert in his field and he receives complex referrals from colleagues and often provides a second opinion on difficult cases. He provides an up-to-date evidence-based treatment to his patients. Dr Amer believes in women-centred care and shared decision making with his patients. Dr Amer provides expert opinion to women with prolapse, incontinence and to women wishing to have minimally invasive treatment including hysteroscopic resection of fibroids and laparoscopic myomectomy / hysterectomy.

As part of his achievements at work, Dr Amer was the lead for the perineal trauma clinic in a centre which is accredited by the British Society of Urogynaecology (BSUG). During that time, he modified the pathways and guidelines to streamline the investigations and direct the resources to those who need it the most. Dr Amer introduced several complex procedures to his workplace including Manchester repair, Autologous Fascial slings for stress urinary incontinence as well as laparoscopic colposuspension and hysteropexy. He was elected as the “most popular surgical consultant of the year” in 2019. He was also successful tin becoming an RCOG college tutor at a very early stage in his consultant career.

Dr Amer is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer (Associate Professor) at the University of Leeds (UK).

Dr Amer is one of very few surgeons who are dually qualified by the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) and the Royal college of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG, CCT). He finished his medical degree in 2004 following which he started his research fellowship at St George’s hospital in London. He then completed his basic surgical and urological training between Northampton and Sheffield. He was awarded a postgraduate diploma in Urology from the University of Middlesex in London, UK. He was subsequently awarded a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Obstetrics & Gynaecology. Dr Amer completed advanced training in three areas: Urogynaecology, Benign Gynaecology (hysteroscopy & laparoscopy) and advanced labour ward practice.

Dr Amer is active academically, he organised and chaired the regional trainees’ conference in 2016, and he is a faculty and an organiser for few training courses. Dr Amer has delivered several presentations at national and international levels.
