Occupational Therapy focuses on how a diagnosis or condition affects a person’s ability to function at school, home or work, and aims to help individuals engage in their daily activities with independence and confidence.

The Occupational Therapist’s role is to assess, treat and support patients of all ages who experience challenges due to physical, neurological or congenital conditions. As a key member of a multidisciplinary team, the Occupational Therapist works collaboratively with doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, and educators.

Paediatric Conditions

• Sensory processing disorders (difficulties in processing and regulating sensory information, such as tactile defensiveness or movement-seeking behaviour)
• Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
• Down syndrome
• Cerebral palsy and other neurological disorders
• Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
• Learning and concentration difficulties
• Developmental delays (including gross and fine motor skill challenges)
• Difficulties with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, eating, and self-care

Adult Conditions

• Stroke (Cerebrovascular Accident)
• Acquired and traumatic brain injuries (e.g. tumours)
