He has extensive expertise in shoulder surgery, sports injuries, joint replacement surgery and orthopaedic trauma, with a patient centred approach focused on restoring function, mobility and quality of life. He has completed dual fellowship training in advanced Shoulder Surgery, Sports Injuries and Arthroplasty, gaining specialist experience in the management of both acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions. His practice combines the latest evidence based techniques with personalised treatment plans, offering both minimally invasive arthroscopic procedures and advanced open surgical techniques to achieve the best possible outcomes for patients. Prior to joining Mediclinic, Dr. Balasubramanian served as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at a leading regional hospital in Durban, South Africa, where he led the Sports Unit and managed a wide range of complex orthopaedic and trauma cases. He also played an active role in medical education, mentoring and training the next generation of orthopaedic registrars and medical officers.
