- Dr. Stephenson is dual trained in General Psychiatry and Medical Psychotherapy to gain GMC Specialist Registration in the UK. He has additional training as a Group Analyst in Manchester, to become a Member of the Institute of Group Analysis, London. Prior to moving to Dubai, Dr. Michael worked in a home-based multidisciplinary treatment team, to help manage people with a a range of crises, to avert hospital admission with intensive support. He undertook early consultant posts in National Referral Centres for Complex Needs Personality Disorder, with extensive group work experience in Therapeutic Communities in both the Henderson and Cassell Hospital Models, before nearly 20 years as Medical Lead of a tertiary specialist psychotherapy Service in the UK National Health Service, meeting the needs of patients with childhood trauma from physical, sexual and emotional abuse, offering short and long term psychotherapy. He aims to fully integrate biological, psychological and social factors for a holistic person centred approach. He is open to helping people with low self-esteem, life stress or loss of direction
