She did her training in Orthopaedic Surgery in Barcelona, Spain, from 2007 to 2012 in a very prestigious centre named I.C.A.T.M.E, at the Institut Universitari Dexeus, Barcelona, Spain, with the leading orthopaedic surgeons in the country, where she gained a lot of experience in the management of elite athletes and complex surgery in hip and knee joints, but as well in hand and foot and ankle surgery. She continued her training in the USA with Professor Roy Sanders, the head of the Florida Orthopaedic Insitute and CEO of the Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma.
Dr. Sara has a special interest in Sports Medicine and Sports Orthopaedics, given her background as a professional tennis player. From 2012 to 2015 she completed a total of four fellowship programmes in very prestigious hospitals and orthopaedic centers in Australia, where she sub-specialised in hip and knee arthroplasty, sports orthopaedics and traumatology. She gained a lot of experience in the management of complex fractures of the upper and lower limb and the management of bone infections. Dr. Sara is specialised in hip and knee replacement surgery, however, she always prefers to start with conservative management of the pathology where she uses many conservative techniques in order to avoid or delay the surgery, like intraarticular treatment with hyaluronic acid or platelet-rich plasma injections. She also manages fractures of the upper and lower limb that require conservative or surgical treatment. She has a great interest in the management of injuries related to sports, she enjoys the management of injuries of athletes, helping them to return to their sporting activities.
