She received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the American University of Beirut, after completing a Bachelor’s degree in nursing, leadership and premedical coursework at the University of Arizona (USAID Peace Scholarship Program), and working for two years as the coordinator of the American University of Beirut Wellness Program.
Dr. Mahmassani completed a four-year ACGME-I accredited residency training in Emergency Medicine at the American University of Beirut Medical Center, where she also served as Emergency Medicine Chief Resident, and a member of the resident staff quality council and the emergency medicine program evaluation committee.
She then joined the International Committee of the Red Cross as an emergency medicine specialist providing acute care to vulnerable patients of all ages and teaching residents at the emergency department of the Rafic Hariri University Hospital, Beirut’s largest governmental hospital. Dr. Mahmassani also served as a clinical associate at the emergency department of the American University of Beirut Medical Center, providing clinical service and upholding her research work.
Dr. Mahmassani is pursuing a master’s degree in health research at the American University of Beirut Scholars in Health Research Program.
She is a licensed Advanced Trauma Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support provider.
