- Dr Azam obtained her MD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from Iran and subsequently she pursued her passion in Fetal Medicine in London at Kings College Hospital, NHS. She spent two years of extensive training under globally famous professor in Fetal medicine, Kypros Nicholaides, who is well known as the father of the Fetal Medicine.
She is a member of the Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF) in UK and she has practiced at Royal London Hospital, NHS, Homerton University Hospital, NHS and in Harley St. private fetal medicine practice. She had gained extensive training in Fetal Echocardiography under Dr. Vita Zidere and Professor John Sipmson who are well recognised experts in Fetal Echocardiography. During her time in London she participated in large research trials in Maternal and Fetal Medicine for new methods of pre-eclampsia screening and prevention, mainly by assessing the maternal ophthalmic artery dopplers as a predictive marker of screening for preeclampsia as well as STATIN trial.
She is an expert in fetal ultrasound assessment including NT, NB, DV and TR scan and first trimester screening for chromosomal abnormalities as well as pre-eclampsia screening, anomaly scan and second trimester screening for chromosomal abnormalities, fetal echocardiography, growth and fetal doppler scan, fetal wellbeing scan, cervical scan, placenta accreta spectrum scan and uterine artery dopplers scan. She performs invasive diagnostic procedures including amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling as well as non-invasive prenatal tests. She is also experienced in diagnosing and managing fetal infections and fetal anaemia. She is well experienced in managing high order multiple pregnancies including triplets and quadruplets as well as twins with most favourable outcomes. She is an expert in IUGR management, monitoring and delivery planning.
