- Dr. Hayat Khan joined Mediclinic Parkview Hospital in July 2021 where he is engaged in treating most complex cases of strabismus & pediatric ophthalmology with special interest in pediatric cataract, glaucoma and retinoblastomas. More than 50% of the patient he see are pediatric patient while the rest are adult where he is treating anterior segment and glaucoma patients.
He is also working as an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at the prestigious Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences in Dubai. He has served on the Editorial Board of Dubai Medical Journal since 2019 onwards. He is also Associate Editor and reviewer for numerous international journals. He is a renowned speaker in numerous international conferences with more than 1000 presentations at national and international forums and was awarded the “2012 Research Award American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology Society Meeting in San Antonio, Texas”. Dr. Khan has the author/co-author more than a dozen international scientific articles.
Dr. Khan earlier served as the head of the pediatric ophthalmology unit of Dubai Health Authority at Dubai Hospital. He has more than 25 years in the area of ophthalmology, 14 years doing ophthalmology and have served in the capacity of a consultant ophthalmologist in British Guyana. He was then appointed with Orbis International and Government of Guyana to serve Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation. He also worked as a consultant at Ain Al Khaleej Hospital in Al Ain, UAE. He served as Assistant Professor in Ophthalmology at the esteemed Tribhuvan University, Nepal in 2004-05. He also served at Saad Specialist Hospital, Eastern Province, as consultant ophthalmic surgeon.
Qualification
- Dr. Khan has the diploma of surgical membership of both British Royal Colleges - Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh and Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow, United Kingdom as well as he has the prestigious Fellowship of the International Council of Ophthalmology.
In 2008, he pursued AAPOS Fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Retinal Dystrophy from McGill University, Montreal, Canada followed by second Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Fellowship from largest program in North America at Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada. Earlier, he had completed 5 years ophthalmology residency from Aligarh Muslim University in 2003 followed by undertaking anterior segment training at prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences for phacoemulsification and later in Nepal for Small Incision Cataract Surgery.
