Prostate cancer screening
Screening with a PSA blood test and clinical review can identify prostate changes that may need a closer look, even when you feel well.

Why screening can help?
Prostate cancer is one of the most common types of cancer affecting men worldwide, which is why routine screening is so important. Many men are unaware they are at risk, especially if they feel healthy and have no symptoms.
Regular screening can help detect prostate cancer before it spreads, allowing for quicker and more targeted treatment. Even for slow-growing cancers, early detection provides you and your doctor with more options for monitoring or managing the condition effectively.
Who should get screened?
If you are aged 45 or above, or have a family history, consult your doctor about the screening schedule that is right for you.
Eligibility criteria include:
- Men aged 45 or above
- Men who have not had a PSA test in the last 12 months
- Men who are not currently being treated for prostate issues
- Men at higher risk (family history or other risk factors) may be advised to start screening earlier
What is included in the Prostate Screening Package?
The Prostate Screening Package costs AED 225 and includes:
- Consultation
- Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) test
- Urine analysis
- Follow-up consultation
Optional add-on (if clinically required): Kidney Ureter Bladder (KUB) ultrasound AED 444 in Abu Dhabi and AED 401 in Dubai - a 50% discount is applied as part of the screening package.

Understanding the PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) test
The PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) test is a simple blood test that measures a protein made by the prostate, a raised PSA level does not always mean cancer. Further investigation and specialist referral may be required.
What happens during screening?
- The doctor will review your medical history and ask about any urinary symptoms or family history of prostate issues
- You will be asked to provide a urine sample (a container will be provided)
- A small sample of blood will be taken from your arm
After the test
- You can go back to your usual activities right away
- Your doctor will contact you within 3 working days once the PSA results are ready
- If needed, your doctor will explain the results and any recommended follow-up
Understanding your results
Normal: No immediate concerns. You'll be advised when to return for your next routine screening.
Elevated PSA: Further tests may be needed. This might include a second PSA test, a prostate MRI or a biopsy to get a closer look.
Not all elevated PSA levels mean cancer. Many men with raised PSA do not have cancer, and many with prostate cancer have only mildly raised levels. That's why a follow-up plan is so important.
