Women’s gynaecological acupuncture
Acupuncture at Mediclinic Middle East as part of a gynaecological treatment plan for selected symptoms and conditions.

How acupuncture fits into your care
Acupuncture is a form of traditional Chinese medicine in which thin needles are placed at specific points on the body. In gynaecological care, it is used as part of a treatment plan designed by your gynaecologist rather than as a treatment on its own. This service is available at selected Mediclinic Middle East facilities.
The treatment uses specialised needles at selected points. The service describes these points as stimulating local pathways and signals involving the spinal cord and limbic system.

After your treatment
Pain or sensitivity where the needles were placed can occur for 24 to 48 hours. Fatigue or body pain may also occur but should not last beyond this period.
Keep well hydrated before and after treatment and avoid strenuous activity for the following few days.
Response and possible side effects
Response varies. Some people notice a marked improvement after the first session, and some gynaecological concerns may respond after a single session. Others may feel soreness for several days before improvement occurs. Around 10% of people may not respond to acupuncture.
Possible side effects include pain or bleeding where the needle was inserted, skin rash, dizziness, and bruising.
