Women’s gynaecology services
Care for periods, pelvic pain, menopause, infections, PCOS, endometriosis, and other concerns affecting your reproductive and gynaecological health.

Care for everyday and complex gynaecological concerns
Gynaecology care can include routine examinations, contraceptive counselling, menstrual and menopause care, diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections, pelvic pain, abnormal Pap smear follow-up, fertility concerns, and breast symptoms.
Mediclinic Middle East also provides specialist gynaecology in areas including gynaecological oncology, minimally invasive and robotic surgery, pelvic floor conditions, aesthetic-functional gynaecology, and fertility. For some concerns, such as fertility, urinary or pelvic-floor health, cosmetic gynaecology, or screening, you may be directed to a more specialised Mediclinic Middle East service.

Menstrual disorders
Menstrual disorders can affect the timing, amount, and symptoms of your periods. Examples include amenorrhoea, where periods stop; dysmenorrhoea, or painful periods; menorrhagia, where heavy bleeding lasts longer than seven days; metrorrhagia, or bleeding between periods; premenstrual syndrome (PMS); and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), a more severe form of PMS.
Possible causes include hormonal changes, fibroids, endometriosis, and polycystic ovary syndrome. A gynaecologist can investigate what is driving the change and recommend treatment based on the cause.
Polycystic ovary syndrome
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal condition that can affect periods, fertility, skin, hair growth, and weight. Symptoms can include irregular or absent periods, increased facial or body hair, acne or oily skin, weight gain or difficulty losing weight, difficulty conceiving, darker skin around areas such as the neck or armpits, and skin tags.
Assessment can include a pelvic examination, ultrasound, hormone testing, and blood tests. Treatment focuses on the symptoms and may include lifestyle changes, hormonal treatment, medicines to regulate periods or lower androgen levels, and fertility treatment when needed. PCOS is also associated with a higher risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease, so ongoing health monitoring can form part of care.
Menopause, endometriosis, and infections
Perimenopause and menopause care can include support with symptoms such as hot flushes, alongside hormone replacement therapy and lifestyle guidance when appropriate.
Endometriosis care focuses on accurate diagnosis, pain management, and longer-term symptom control. For vaginal infections and sexually transmitted infections, assessment and treatment are provided in a confidential setting. Support is also available for women’s emotional and psychological wellbeing when mental health concerns are part of the picture.
Vaginitis can cause discharge, itching, pain, painful urination, or light bleeding. Common causes include bacterial vaginosis, yeast infection, and trichomoniasis. Treatment depends on the cause and may include antibiotics, antiparasitic medication, or oestrogen when symptoms are related to hormonal change.
Gynaecological oncology
Gynaecological oncology focuses on cancers of the female reproductive organs, including the cervix, uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, vagina, and vulva, as well as pre-cancerous disease and selected complex conditions such as endometriosis, fibroids, and pelvic masses.
Care can include minimally invasive surgery, cervical assessment with HPV testing and colposcopy, image-guided biopsy, MRI, CT, PET CT, histopathology, fertility-sparing surgery where appropriate, sentinel-node sampling, radical surgery, chemotherapy, external-beam radiotherapy, and brachytherapy. Counselling is also available for familial cancers of the ovary, uterus, and breast, and gynaecological screening can form part of care for people with breast cancer.
A multidisciplinary tumour board brings together surgeons, oncologists, radiation oncologists, consultants, and other specialists to agree a treatment approach. Care also considers the effect of treatment on body image, sexual function, menopause symptoms, and emotional wellbeing.
Robotic gynaecology at Mediclinic Middle East
Mediclinic Middle East uses the da Vinci Xi robotic system for selected minimally invasive gynaecological procedures. The surgeon controls four robotic arms from a console using a three-dimensional high-definition view, with articulated instruments and tremor filtering to support precise movement.
Procedures include endometriosis resection; hysterectomy, including selected single-site surgery through the belly button; myomectomy for fibroids, which can keep the uterus intact; oophorectomy and ovarian cystectomy, with cystectomy used to preserve ovarian tissue and function where appropriate; pelvic-organ prolapse reconstruction including sacrocolpopexy; surgery for severe adhesions; and repair of selected Caesarean-section scar defects associated with pain, abnormal bleeding, or fertility problems.
Potential benefits include fewer blood transfusions, lower conversion from minimally invasive to open surgery, shorter hospital stays, and fewer complications within 30 days.
