At Mediclinic Springs we understand that communication, feeding and swallowing are essential to living a healthy and confident life. Our Speech Therapy service provides personalised care for children and adults, led by a licensed and internationally certified specialist with extensive experience in complex cases.

What We Offer
Our therapy extends beyond traditional speech support. We assist patients of all ages, from newborns in the NICU to adults recovering from neurological or oncological conditions, across a wide range of needs:

  • Swallowing and Feeding Difficulties: Using advanced tools such as FEES and VFSS, we assess and manage swallowing disorders caused by stroke, brain injuries, Parkinson’s disease, ALS or head and neck cancers. For infants and children, we provide specialised feeding therapy addressing picky eating, sensory challenges and early intervention as soon as 24 hours after birth.
  • Children’s Communication Development: We support children with speech delays, articulation difficulties, autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, cerebral palsy and rare syndromes, helping them gain confidence and independence in communication.
  • Voice and Breathing: From vocal fold paralysis to voice strain or nodules, our therapy restores healthy voice function. We also provide specialised interventions for mouth breathing, poor lip seal and abnormal oral postures.
  • Advanced Therapies: With certification in Oro-Myofunctional Therapy and TalkTools Oral Placement Therapy, we deliver specialised interventions for structural, sensory and functional needs, including lip tie and tongue tie management before and after frenectomy.
  • Rehabilitation Support: Our expertise includes tracheostomy care and safe decannulation, as well as rehabilitation for patients recovering from cancer treatments, stroke or traumatic brain injuries.

A Team Approach
Because communication and swallowing challenges often require multiple perspectives, our Speech Therapist collaborates closely with ENT specialists, neurologists, oncologists, neonatologists, surgeons, dietitians, physiotherapists and occupational therapists. This integrated approach ensures that every patient receives comprehensive and holistic care.
