- Dr. Karim Saleh is a Swedish Board-Certified Consultant Dermatologist and Venereologist with broad experience across the full spectrum of medical dermatology, with particular expertise in skin cancer, dermoscopy, dermatologic surgery, Mohs micrographic surgery and laser dermatology.
He graduated from Lund University in Sweden and completed his specialist training in Dermatology and Venereology at Lund University Hospital, where he subsequently worked as a Consultant Dermatologist. In 2024, he relocated to Dubai and joined Mediclinic Dubai Mall.
Dr. Saleh has a particular interest in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer, mole assessment, dermoscopy and dermatologic surgery. He completed five years of fellowship training in Mohs micrographic surgery and has extensive experience in the surgical management of skin tumours. He was also a member of the Swedish national expert group for basal cell carcinoma treatment guidelines.
Alongside his specialist interests, Dr. Saleh manages a broad range of dermatological conditions in adults and children, including acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, urticaria, hair and scalp disorders, nail conditions, skin infections and sexually transmitted infections. His practice also includes biologic and other advanced systemic treatments for inflammatory skin diseases.
Dr. Saleh has a special interest in laser dermatology and skin rejuvenation, including the treatment of pigmentation and sun damage, melasma, vascular lesions and facial redness, acne scars and other forms of scarring, and signs of skin ageing. His practice incorporates advanced laser and light-based technologies including HALO hybrid fractional laser, BroadBand Light (BBL), picosecond laser, fractional CO2 laser, vascular Nd:YAG laser and Er:YAG laser. He also performs botulinum toxin treatments.
Dr. Saleh holds a PhD in Dermatology from Lund University. His doctoral research focused on surgical site infections in dermatologic surgery, and his thesis received the Anna-Greta Crafoord Prize for the best doctoral thesis of the year at Lund University.
He has authored and co-authored more than 25 peer-reviewed scientific publications, with research spanning dermatologic surgery, Mohs surgery, skin cancer, dermoscopy, wound healing and surgical infections. He has contributed a book chapter on infected wounds and served as Principal Investigator for a first-in-human randomized Phase I clinical trial evaluating a novel topical treatment for wound healing.
Dr. Saleh has presented at major international meetings, including the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) Congress and the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) Annual Meeting, and has been invited to lecture internationally. He has served on the boards of the Swedish Society for Dermatology and Venereology and the Nordic Dermatology Association and has been extensively involved in medical education, including organising two national educational conferences for dermatology residents in Sweden.
His work has received several scientific awards and international scholarships. Dr. Saleh combines broad medical dermatology with an evidence-based approach to skin cancer, dermatologic surgery and modern laser and aesthetic dermatology.
