Professor Charbel D. Moussallem is a Mayo Clinic fellowship–trained orthopedics and spine surgeon with extensive academic, surgical, and research expertise. He has authored over 25 peer-reviewed indexed publications and contributed to several textbook chapters on orthopedics and spine surgery, including the Instructional Course Lectures of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS). He serves as editor and reviewer for multiple international peer-reviewed journals in the field of orthopedics and spine surgery.

Professor Moussallem is also an inventor of multiple patented orthopedic devices with CE certification related to spine and scoliosis surgery, reflecting his commitment to surgical innovation and improving patient outcomes.

He has held several key leadership roles in academic and clinical practice, including:
• Chairman of Orthopedics and Chairman of Surgery at a major university hospital in Lebanon.
• Head of the Department of Orthopedics and Neurosurgery at Mediclinic Al Noor Hospital, Abu Dhabi UAE.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and holds the European Board of Orthopedics and Traumatology (EBOT) and the International College of Surgeons (FICS). He is currently an Associate Professor of Orthopaedics, Spine, and Anatomy at the Lebanese University and Adjunct Full Professor at Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi. He is also an active member of numerous prestigious American and French and European Orthopedic and spine societies.

In addition, Professor Moussallem holds a Diploma in Anatomy and a diploma of Microsurgery, reflecting his expertise in surgical precision and anatomical research. His orthopaedic training was completed at Amiens University Medical Centre, France, where he developed a strong foundation in adult joint reconstruction (total hip and total knee arthroplasty) as well as trauma surgery, before pursuing advanced training in complex spine surgery at the Mayo Clinic.

Professor Moussallem’s unique background, combining clinical excellence, surgical innovation, high-impact research, and proven leadership in academic medicine, positions him at the forefront of Orthopaedic and spine surgery both regionally and globally.
Dr Moussallem has also introduced the complex treatment of different spine pathologies such as complex scoliosis and microdiscectomy as well as artificial disc replacement for both cervical and lumbar spine
