Summary
Dr. Shakeel Ismail is a General Practitioner working in the Emergency Department of Mediclinic City Hospital. He is highly proficient in all aspects of emergency care and is trained in treating acute medical and surgical emergencies, all grades of trauma, paediatric, obstetric and gynaecological and psychiatric emergencies. His experience allows him to treat a variety of patients from ambulatory 'walk-ins' to patients requiring full resuscitation, stabilisation and definitive management.
Dr. Ismail began his career in Emergency Medicine at the Khayelitsha Community Health Centre (Cape Town) as the senior medical officer in the 24 hour trauma unit. He then joined the Vincent Pallotti and Christian Barnard Memorial private hospitals (Cape Town) as a permanent locum working in their Accident and Emergency Departments (level 1 units). He later moved to Brisbane in Australia where he took the position of Principal House Officer at the Redcliffe Hospital's Accident and Emergency Department. Dr. Ismail has since gained his qualifications in the Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support(ACLS), Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and the Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) programmes.
