Mediclinic Airport Road Hospital, part of Mediclinic Middle East, has recently celebrated 10 years of serving the community. The hospital organised a wide variety of activities and events to commemorate the hospital’s remarkable accomplishments over the past decade.

Joe Hazel, Hospital Director of Mediclinic Airport Road Hospital, said on this occasion: “We are honoured to have marked this special occasion, and wish to thank our community of patients for their continued trust in our physicians and clinical services over these years.”

"We have now had over four million outpatient visits, 130,000 admissions, 80,000 theatre cases, and 17,500 babies delivered at Mediclinic Airport Road Hospital, which is a reflection of our fabulous support of the Abu Dhabi residents," he concluded.

Not only did the hospital celebrate its 10th anniversary, but it is also undergoing an exciting upgrade of all the facilities and a huge expansion which is well underway. The new extension, which is two and a half times the size of the current facility, will allow all specialities to be expanded to deliver enhanced care programs, will add further sub-specialities, additional beds and a Comprehensive Cancer Centre.

Like the Comprehensive Cancer Centre which recently opened at Mediclinic City Hospital in Dubai, the Comprehensive Cancer Centre at Mediclinic Airport Road Hospital will be built in collaboration with Mediclinic Middle East’s sister platform in Switzerland, Hirslanden, with patients able to benefit from the sharing of knowledge and experience between some of the leading oncology experts in Europe and the Middle East, as well as access to the very latest treatment programmes and technology. The new centre will offer radiotherapy, nuclear medicine and chemotherapy services.

Mediclinic Middle East is part of Mediclinic International, a private hospital group with three operating platforms in Southern Africa (South Africa and Namibia), Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates, and a 29.9% shareholding in Spire Healthcare, a UK-based healthcare group with 38 hospitals. Mediclinic Middle East operates seven hospitals and over 20 clinics with over 900 inpatient beds in the United Arab Emirates.
