Dr Filza Khalid is a board-certified Consultant General Surgeon with extensive training and expertise in laparoscopic and proctologic surgery. She graduated among the top ten students from Shifa College of Medicine in Islamabad, Pakistan. Following a year-long internship, she was selected for the competitive surgical training programme at the Dubai Health Authority.
The majority of her surgical training was completed at Rashid Hospital, a renowned Level 1 Trauma Centre and the largest of its kind in the Middle East, with additional rotations at Dubai and Latifa Hospitals. Early in her residency, Dr Filza earned Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (MRCS), highlighting her clinical and academic excellence.
She served as Chief Resident in General Surgery, leading her cohort in academic coordination, clinical responsibilities and rota management. Dr Filza was also instrumental in launching and managing the UAE’s first nationwide Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) Workshop, a significant step forward in hands-on surgical education.
In 2019, she earned her board certification in General Surgery from the Arab Board of Health Specialisations.
Since then, Dr Filza has been part of Mediclinic Hospitals and Clinics, where she was promoted from Specialist to Consultant General Surgeon in recognition of her dedication, clinical expertise and exceptional patient care. Committed to continuous professional development, she obtained a Diploma in Laparoscopic Surgery from the University of Strasbourg, France, and is currently pursuing a subspecialty fellowship in Proctology.
Dr Filza is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a certified faculty member of the Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) course. Throughout her career, she has remained actively involved in teaching medical students and surgical trainees.
She is a regular participant at both local and international surgical conferences and is contributing to multiple publications in her field. Dr Filza is widely respected for her clinical leadership, patient-centred care and commitment to advancing surgical practice in the region.
