Dr. Hira Safdar is a Canadian-trained, double board certified Consultant Psychiatrist and Assistant Professor with extensive expertise across adult inpatient psychiatry, emergency psychiatry, consultation liaison psychiatry, eating disorders and Peri/Postnatal psychiatry. She holds Fellowship certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) and certification from the Arab Board of Health Specializations.

Dr. Safdar is a recognized academic leader and program builder, served as Fellowship Director for Consultation Liaison Psychiatry at Western University, where she has led curriculum design, faculty development, trainee supervision and competency based evaluation. Her clinical practice is grounded in evidence based, trauma informed and culturally sensitive care, with a strong emphasis on complex medical psychiatric interfaces.

A committed women’s mental health advocate, Dr. Safdar has developed particular expertise in perinatal and postnatal psychiatry, supporting women through pregnancy related mood disorders, postpartum depression, anxiety, trauma and severe mental illness during critical life transitions.
