Dr. Mehdi Khamaktchian is a Belgian Consultant ENT and Head & Neck Surgeon with more than 20 years of medical and surgical experience. He has worked at Brugmann University Hospital in Brussels since 2008, where he created and coordinates the Snoring Clinic, dedicated to the multidisciplinary assessment and treatment of snoring, obstructive sleep apnea and sleep-related breathing disorders.
His main areas of expertise are rhinology, nasal breathing and functional nasal surgery. He has particular expertise in the management of nasal obstruction, septal and turbinate disorders, sinus disease, allergic rhinitis, functional and aesthetic rhinoplasty, and the relationship between nasal function and breathing during sleep.
Dr. Khamaktchian has extensive experience in the investigation and treatment of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea, including drug-induced sleep endoscopy and individually tailored surgical and non-surgical treatment strategies. His clinical research has focused particularly on nasal resistance, rhinoplethysmography, sleep endoscopy and the functional treatment of sleep-related breathing disorders.
Alongside his ENT practice, Dr. Khamaktchian is certified by the American Board of Aesthetic Medicine (ABAM) in Aesthetic Medicine and Advanced Aesthetic Medicine, complementing his expertise in nasal and facial anatomy with non-surgical aesthetic medicine.
He has been involved in university teaching and the training of ENT fellows and has presented his work at national and international scientific meetings. His research on nasal resistance measurement received an European award for best research poster.
