Summary
Dr. Carlos Sanchez completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine in 1992, graduating with an extraordinary award for academic excellence. After obtaining his medical degree, he served for one year in the Spanish Armed Forces as a Second Lieutenant Doctor.

He completed his Paediatric Fellowship from 1995 to 1998 at Cadiz University Hospital, followed by a final year as a Paediatric Allergy Fellow at “La Fe” University Hospital in Valencia. He also undertook a three-month training period at St Thomas’ Hospital in London, where he gained experience in molecular techniques applied to allergy.

Dr. Sanchez specializes in high-risk food allergies associated with anaphylaxis, as well as in the management of children with severe asthma. His extensive experience in paediatric food allergies, particularly severe cases with anaphylaxis risk, enables him to help families work towards developing tolerance to allergenic foods, allowing children to live normal lives without the constant risk of anaphylaxis.

His expertise in paediatric anaphylaxis allows him to provide comprehensive support to families, including diagnosis, treatment, follow-up consultations, ongoing communication via WhatsApp, and training in the use of adrenaline auto-injectors. In addition to managing general paediatric conditions, he has strong experience in allergy diagnostic techniques, pulmonary function testing for asthmatic patients, and the management of food and drug allergies in children.

Early in his career, Dr. Sanchez worked as a Consultant Hospital Paediatrician in Spain. In 2008, he was appointed Head of the Paediatric Allergy Department at Cadiz University Hospital in southern Spain. Between 2008 and 2019, he established the hospital’s first Paediatric Allergy Unit and introduced desensitization techniques for children with food allergies, particularly cow’s milk and hen’s egg allergies. Through these programs, he successfully cured cow’s milk allergy in 150 children and egg allergy in 50 children. These techniques are now widely implemented across Spanish hospitals, achieving success rates of up to 90%.

Dr. Sanchez moved to Dubai in 2019 and is currently practicing as a General Paediatrician and Consultant Paediatric Allergist at Mediclinic City Hospital and Mediclinic Al Sufouh.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Sanchez has been an Associate Professor of Paediatrics at the Cadiz School of Medicine for over 10 years. He has served as President of the Andalusian Society of Paediatric Allergy and as a member of the Joint Board of the Spanish Society of Paediatric Allergy and Asthma for four years. He was also part of the Severe Asthma Expert Committee advising international pharmaceutical laboratories and Spanish health authorities. For four years, he served as Director of the Spanish Paediatric Anaphylaxis Group, where he led the publication of the first national action guidelines for children with anaphylaxis.

Dr. Sanchez has authored more than 25 articles in international medical journals, contributed chapters to medical textbooks, and has been invited to lecture worldwide. He has also served on several editorial boards of scientific journals.
