- Dr. El Hefny is a highly experienced Consultant in ENT and Head & Neck Surgery with extensive expertise in advanced rhinology and endoscopic sinus surgery. Prior to joining Mediclinic, he served as Consultant and Head of the Department of ENT and Head & Neck Surgery at Mafraq Hospital.
He is recognised for introducing endoscopic sinus surgery to the UAE at Mafraq Hospital in November 1991, pioneering advanced surgical techniques in the treatment of complex sinus and nasal conditions.
Dr. El Hefny has a special interest in the management of chronic sinusitis, fungal sinusitis, naso-sinus polyposis and tumours of the nose and paranasal sinuses. His expertise includes advanced endoscopic sinus surgery, including revision sinus surgery, septoplasty and radiofrequency reduction of inferior turbinates.
In paediatric ENT, he manages conditions such as chronic tonsillitis, mouth breathing and snoring. He performs advanced paediatric procedures including bipolar magnification tonsillectomy using LigaSure technology and endoscopic adenoidectomy. Dr. El Hefny received advanced international training at leading medical institutions in the USA and Europe, including Johns Hopkins Hospital, Mayo Clinic and Boston Children’s Hospital at Harvard University. He also trained under internationally recognised pioneers in rhinology and endoscopic sinus surgery, including Prof. Heinz Stammberger in Austria, Prof. David Kennedy at Philadelphia University Hospital in Pennsylvania, Prof. Trevor McGill at Boston Children’s Hospital, Prof. Eugene Kern, former Head of the American Rhinologic Society in Washington D.C., and Prof. Allen Sieden at Cincinnati University Hospital, Ohio.
His expertise and contributions to ENT surgery have led to invitations to lecture at prestigious institutions in the United States, including Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins University Hospital, Boston Children’s Hospital at Harvard University and meetings of the American Academy of Otolaryngology and the American Rhinologic Society. Dr. El Hefny is committed to delivering advanced, evidence-based ENT care with a focus on surgical precision, patient safety and long-term functional outcomes for both adult and paediatric patients.
