- Dr Karim trained and worked exclusively in the United Kingdom before moving to the UAE. He graduated from the University of Nottingham Medical School and completed his Obstetrics and Gynaecology training in major teaching hospitals in Nottingham and London, including Queen’s Medical Centre, University College London, St Bartholomew’s Hospital, and Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital.
He developed a special interest in advanced minimally invasive surgery and, following completion of his CCT in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, undertook a subspecialty fellowship in Gynaecological Oncology at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital, UK. This led to RCOG/GMC accreditation as a Subspecialist Consultant in Gynaecological Oncology.
Dr Karim has been actively involved in research throughout his career, establishing international collaborative studies with multiple institutions. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and serves as a reviewer for leading publications including Gynecologic Oncology, BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and The BMJ. He is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU), and is regularly invited to share his expert opinion on radio, television, and in the national press.
He has received several national and international awards and is an international key opinion leader in cervical screening, the treatment of cervical abnormalities, and HPV vaccination, advising governments on the development and implementation of national screening and vaccination programmes.
