Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

Mediclinic City Hospital’s state-of-the-art paediatric intensive care unit houses six beds and provides specialised care around the clock to critically ill children. It serves paediatric patients suffering from life threatening conditions such as respiratory distress, seizures, coma, serious infections, asthma, pneumonia and accidental poisoning, as well as those who have undergone complex paediatric surgical procedures.

The unit employs the latest technology such as pulse oximetry, end tidal CO2 monitors with invasive haemodynamic monitoring, ventilators, non-invasive ventilation, nitric oxide and sophisticated invasive procedures such as flexible fibreoptic bronchoscopy. Under the leadership of Dr Praveen Khilnani, an American board certified paediatric intensivist  with over 25 years’ experience in America and India, the PICU is staffed by an internationally trained team of paediatric intensivist hospitalists, paediatric subspecialists such as a paediatric cardiologist, paediatric infectious disease specialist and paediatric intensive care nurses.
