Summary
Dr Mari has 17 years of experience as a consultant paediatric and general anaesthetist, having focused mainly on paediatric anaesthesia for most of her career. She has built extensive experience in most kinds of paediatric anaesthesia, from the smallest of premature babies to long and difficult cases requiring special skills. She joined us directly from Helsinki University New Paediatric Hospital, having worked in this largest paediatric hospital in Northern Europe as a paediatric anaesthesia consultant for nearly three years. Prior to Helsinki Dr Mari worked for fouryears in American Hospital Dubai, where she was part of the General Anaesthesia team, in addition to being in charge of anaesthesia and postoperative care for the most complex paediatric surgery patients. Before joining AHD, Dr Mari worked in Turku University Hospital as a consultant for eight years, after completing her general anaesthesia training there 2005. In the beginning of her career as a consultant, she completed the official two years Finnish subspeciality training for paediatric anaesthesia and intensive care in 2008, and the Scandinavian training on the subject in 2007. Despite working most of the time as a consultant in the Paediatric Surgery unit, she kept up with adult anaesthesia skills by rotating some of the time on most types of adult surgery.
