PROGRAMME OUTLINE:
Cartilage lesions of the knee are commonly found during routine arthroscopy. These lesions may cause pain, swelling, mechanical symptoms, and functional impairment. In this webinar session, Prof. Dr. Karl will discuss the current modalities such as stem cell simulation, cell implantation by (cell-free) scaffolds, and the role of growth hormones and / or cytokines for the treatment of  these frequent present cartilage lesions

SPEAKER PROFILE:
Prof. Dr. Karl Fredrik Almqvist 
Consultant Orthopaedics, Knee Surgery & Sports Traumatology
MD, Phd

Prof. Dr Karl is an internationally recognized orthopaedic surgeon with main interest in Sports medicine and knee pathologies (conservative treatment, ACL/ meniscal cartilage surgery and Knee replacement). He is trained at the University of Ghent in Belgium and worked at the Ghent University Hospital where he was Head of Clinic, Department of Physical Medicine and Orthopaedic Surgery. Prof. Dr. Karl has published extensively and written a number of book chapters. He is a regular speaker at international meetings and is on the editorial board or is a reviewer for the major sports orthopaedic journals.
