Liezel graduated from the University of Cape Town, South Africa in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiotherapy. Her extensive work experience involves rehabilitation of acute spinal cord injuries at Conradie Spinal Cord Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa, eight years as a physiotherapist in Gatesville Medical Clinic treating in- and outpatients, which included adult and paedaiatric respiratory (ICU, high care, wards), orthopaedics( fractures, trauma, hand injuries), post-surgical conditions including knee and hip replacements and post spine surgery rehabilitation, medical conditions, sports rehabilitation, women's health and musculoskeletal conditions. She then opened her own practice, which she operated for 16 years prior to moving to the UAE, with a focus on spine, joint and sports injuries, as well as opening a second practice in a psychiatric facility four years ago, recognising the impact mental health has on pain. Prior to joining Mediclinic, she worked in a clinic in Dubai for a year, treating outpatient musculoskeletal and sports injuries.
She is trained in dry needling and advanced needling.
