Urogynaecology care at Mediclinic

Bladder leakage, pelvic heaviness and bowel discomfort are among the most common symptoms women experience, yet many go untreated. These are not symptoms you simply have to manage. With the right care, most urogynaecological conditions can be significantly improved.

What is urogynaecology?

Urogynaecology is a subspecialty focused on conditions affecting the female pelvic floor: the network of muscles, ligaments and connective tissues that support the bladder, uterus, vagina and bowel. These conditions can develop after childbirth, with age, during menopause or as a result of other medical factors.

Symptoms that may need attention

You may benefit from an assessment if you experience any of the following:

  • Urinary leakage when coughing, sneezing, laughing or exercising
  • Sudden urgency or difficulty reaching the toilet in time
  • Frequent urination, including at night
  • Pelvic heaviness, pressure or a sense of dragging or bulging
  • Vaginal prolapse symptoms
  • Pain or discomfort during intimacy
  • Recurrent urinary tract infections
  • Bowel control concerns
  • Ongoing pelvic symptoms after childbirth

If any of these symptoms are affecting your daily life, confidence or wellbeing, we encourage you to speak with a doctor. These are medical conditions, and help is available.
