Your child will continue to build fat tissue under the skin until it is born; it is still gaining weight, and its skull and brain are also continuing to grow.

The lanugo and the protective vermix on the skin will have probably disappeared, apart from in a few places on the baby's shoulders. If your baby is a boy, his testicles should now have descended from the inguinal canal to the scrotum. You will probably feel your child move less often as it is now almost fixed in its position in the pelvis.

You will find it increasingly difficult to get comfortable at this stage of the pregnancy. Your muscles and tendons are under considerable pressure, and your joints are now being prepared for the birth. You will feel this in your lower back in particular. Try not to hollow your back, but push your pelvis forward and also keep your back straight when you are walking. That will provide relief.

At the end of your pregnancy, the baby is roughly the size of a watermelon.
