Pregnancy and Covid-19
Are pregnant women more susceptible to covid 19 compared to the general public?
The evidence is still emerging. The majority of pregnant women experience only mild cold/flu-like symptoms and do not appear to be more susceptible to Covid-19 than the general population.
What should a pregnant woman who is experiencing respiratory symptoms do?
Call your hospital or emergency department. They will direct you what to do, how and where to go. Pregnant women will be assessed by the doctor and diagnostic swabs will be taken if they are considered at a high risk at infection. In addition, isolation will be advised until it’s confirmed if infection is present or not.
What can a pregnant woman do to avoid catching coronavirus?
The best way to avoid catching coronavirus is to follow general hygiene measures like handwashing and avoid contact with people who are unwell or at risk.
