Dr. Mathias graduated from the prestigious St. John's Medical College in Bangalore, India in 1985. After gaining experience in the various fields of general surgery, he passed the fellowship examination of the Royal Colleges of Surgeon of Edinburgh & Glasgow in 1992. He obtained expertise in minimally invasive surgery very early and has since accumulated extensive experience in all aspects of diagnostic & therapeutic Laparoscopic surgery & Endoscopy. Over 5 years he has concentrated on and achieved super-specialization in Liver & Gastro-Intestinal surgery. After being trained at the world-renowned Kings College Hospital, London, he worked as the sole surgical resident in the Liver unit of the National Liver Transplant program at St. Vincent's University Hospital in Dublin. This unit undertakes all the transplants and most of the liver, biliary and pancreatic surgery in Ireland. Dr. Mathias is a member of the International Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary Association and has presented and published many papers mainly in this field.
